Colombo

Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial hub, is located on the country’s west coast and with a population of between 800,000 and one million (estimates vary) is by far the country’s biggest city, as well as the most developed. Its natural harbour at the mouth of the Kelani River was a magnet for successive traders and conquerors – initially the Arab merchants, then Portuguese, Dutch and British imperialists. Mt Lavinia is one of Colombo’s more laidback suburbs filled with great seafood restaurants on the golden beach.

Kandy

Kandy is one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka and lies in the midst of hills. It is the Capital of the Central Province. It is both an administrative and religious city. Kandy is the second largest city in the country and is frequently visited by Buddhists especially of the Theravada School.Kandy is very famous among tourist for three main reasons: It is home to the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic; Dalada Maligawa ), The Botanical Gardens ( Located in Peradeniya) and it always has a special place when it comes to festivities such as the Esala Perahara.

Galle

Galle: The seaside town of Galle is 116 Km away from Colombo by road or rail, down the south coast of Sri Lanka. Both routes are picturesque, following the coastline closely for much of the way. You can also take the Southern Expressway if you need to reach the city by half the time but there is not much scenery to admire. Today’s town has grown greatly and spreads into the surroundings but the Fort is the slow beating heart of Galle ‘s history. The walled city has stood since the early sixteenth century, through the Colonial periods of the Portuguese, Dutch and British and in our present times is proclaimed as an Archaeological Reserve and has been identified as a living World Heritage Site.

Dambulla

Dambulla is a big town, located in the Matale District, Central Province of Sri Lanka, located 148 km north-east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy, the Golden Rock Temple a few Kilometers south of the market town of Dambulla, is its most famous and spectacular and the temple is in a cave under a range of granite hillocks which rise 160 meters above the surrounding plains. Major attractions of the area contain the largest and best conserved Cave Temple Complex of Sri Lanka, and the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

Hambantota

Hambantota city is located 241km south of Colombo in Hambantota district of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. With the opening of Southern Expressway running from Kottawa to Matara, Hambantota is reached in a much shorter period of time though the total distance is still at 242km. Furthermore, the newly constructed Southern Expressway running from Kottawa to southern coastal town of Matara (126km) is proposed to be extended to Hambantota.

Pallekele

Pallekele is a suburb of the city of Kandy in Kandy District, Sri Lanka. The suburb is home to the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the Trinity College Rugby Stadium, the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) and the PALK Seismic Station. Pallekele is the home to the PICS, the third largest cricket stadium in Sri Lanka. At the moment it is frequently hosting international matches. It hosted 3 matches of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, 9 matches of the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 and a few Sri Lanka Premier League matches in 2012.
